Psalm 42:5
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Explanation
The Biblical Hebrew for "Turmoil" is "Hama" (讛指诪指讛). It means to murmur, growl, roar, or be boisterous and loud. This would be loud and visceral, like an inner groan.
Inspiration
Are you carrying an inner turmoil? How much tension can one carry? We all have things that weigh us down. Sometimes they become too heavy.
Application for Today
- It's time to be honest about your soul. Hope is not ignorant of depression. Sitting with your soul, recognise God is still worthy of praise and the hope we carry will hold us through the spirals.
Prayer
Father God, Help me to be honest and open with my turmoil. I hold on to the hope I have in you. Carry me through. In Jesus' name, Amen.
