2 Timothy 1:7

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

Explanation

There are several words for "Fear" in the Bible. This on is "Deilia" (未蔚喂位委伪) in 2 Tim 1:7, and it means Cowardice, timidity, or shrinking back from a calling. It's the type of fear that leads us to settle for less.

Inspiration

Are you letting fear hold you back? Have you stood still in life? Fear is not to be ignored, but don't let it immobilise you. Where in your life is it time to rise in a God given confidence?

Application for Today

  • Sometime we need to pray for our souls to rise to the place of confidence in the Spirit of God. You are not called to be timid, but strong and tenacious. Fear is real, but the Spirit of God is louder than fear.

Prayer

Father God, You have given me your Holy Spirit. Help me to walk in a God-given confidence of power, love and self-control. in Jesus' name, Amen.
