Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Explanation

The word "Dismayed" is powerful. The Hebrew word "Chathath" (חָתַת) means to be shattered, broken to pieces, or dismayed by terror.It's an emotive and visceral feeling. A powerful response that is not to be underestimated.

Inspiration

Are you feeling discouraged? Are you lacking in personal security? God's command to be strong and courageous comes to us in the face of adversity. When something rocks our world, we need to find a boldness in God.

Application for Today

Being secure and confident is a choice. It is the result of choosing to face up to situations that require you to be confident and secure. Invite the Holy Spirit to help you to stand strong today.

Prayer

Father God, Help me to be secure and strong today. Fill me with your presence and help me to live today with my chin up and head held high. In Jesus' name, Amen.
