Psalms 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Explanation
In Hebrew, "Be still" is Raphah (רָפָה), meaning to slacken, let drop, or abandon your own efforts. It's an active choice to let you guard down and just be.
Inspiration
Are you feeling defensive? Did that question alone offend you? We live with our guard up all the time. We can be prickly and fast to react in order to protect ourselves, but God calls us to drop our guard.
Application for Today
- Stop. Pause for a moment. Allow God to fill a silence of a few minutes. Don't be afraid to sit and be mindful of His presence.
Prayer
Father God, Help me to be present. I will be still and know you are God. Amen.
