Psalms 23:4

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Explanation

The Shadow of death is a deep and ominous picture. Tsalmaveth (爪址诇职诪指讜侄转) means a deep darkness, pitch black, the shadow of death. As ever, Hebrew is emotive and this is a felt word! Notice that God does not remove us from the valley, but walks with us in guidance and comfort.

What darkness is threatening your peace? Where has fear got a grip in your life? The shadow of the darkest valley is overbearing. but we can overcome!

Application for Today

  • God may not take you out of your dark valley, but He will walk with you through it. Invite Him to help you through your dark moments. He will carry you and bring you out in good time!

Prayer

Father God, Walk with me and guide me in my dark moments. Be near and comfort me. Show me how to overcome. In Jesus' name, Amen.
