Proverbs 14:26
Whoever fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for their children it will be a refuge.
Explanation
The word "Fear" in Hebrew is "Yirah" (讬执专职讗指讛). It means reverence, moral piety or terrifying awe. It is not fear we know in the sense of being afraid, but a recognition and respect for the awesome.
Inspiration
What kind of fear do you have? Not all fear is bad. When it comes to the fear of God, it can be seen as healthy view. Your fear of God will bring you awe and comfort.
Application for Today
- The Lord is infinitely powerful and personally present. We should approach Him with both confidence and respect. Recognise God's power and recognise His presence at the same time.
Prayer
Father God, I thank you that you hold all things in your hands, and yet you still hear my prayer and are close to me. Help me to find refuge in your strength and awe for your presence today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
