Isaiah 43:1
But now, this is what the LORD says- he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
Explanation
In the Hebrew "Redeemed" is Ga'al (גָּאַל). It means to act as a kinsman-redeemer, to buy back a family member from debt or slavery. It's a less familiar concept in our modern day context, but it's the idea of being valued and worth paying a significant cost for.
Inspiration
Have you ever questioned your value? Is your worth sometimes forgotten? God's value spoken over you is significant. He calls you His own and declares you significant in His eyes.
Application for Today
- Don't let the voice within, and the voices of others, diminish your worth. Remind yourself that God has redeemed you and paid a great price because of His love for you. You matter!
Prayer
Father God, I thank you that you love me and that your place value upon my life. Help me to be reminded daily of my worth in you. In Jesus' name, Amen.
