John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Explanation

The Greek for "Troubled" is "Tarassō" (ταράσσω). A word that is built on instigating problems. It's like stirring up water and agitating something that was once calm.

Inspiration

Have you been agitated recently? Are you being wound tight be people or circumstances? Today, we can take charge through prayer and receive peace where there was once trouble.

Application for Today

  • Too often we let words agitate us and stir up trouble in our souls. Begin reminding yourself of the love, peace, and promise of God as you take your troubles and allow the peace of God to wash over them.

Prayer

Father God, I thank you that you leave with me peace. Help me to not allow agitation to be stirred up in my day. May I walk in your peace, always. In Jesus' name, Amen.
