Isaiah 26:3
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
(Translation: ESV)
Explanation
The word for "stayed" is the Hebrew 'samuk' (סָמוּךְ). It means to be "propped up" or "leaned upon." It’s the idea of a beam, or post taking the full weight of a structure. This speaks to us of reliance on God. We don't just come to the Lord for a refreshing, but we ensure our minds are focussed on trusting in God.
Inspiration
We are promised perfect peace when we learn to fully trust God. It's natural for worry to overtake us, but where might we need to realign our thoughts on God? How might we bring our thinking to a place of trust in His perfect provision?
Application for Today
- To have your mind stayed on God suggests the need to lean on Him and allow Him to underpin us. Hold your worries and fears in your mind, don't dismiss them, but make them subject to God through prayer.
Prayer
Father God, I thank you that you are reliable. Take my worries and anxieties and help me to entrust them to you. Help me to rely on you in all things. In Jesus' name, Amen.
