Matthew 10:28

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Explanation

The word "Kill" in Greek is "Apokteinō" (ἀποκτείνω) . It means to put to death, to utterly slay. It is a very permanent state of affairs.

Inspiration

Are you dreading that person? Is opposition feeling heavy? Do not let those who have no control over your destiny have the final say in your life.

Application for Today

  • Begin reminding yourself that their words, actions, and impact is not forever. They have no control over your destiny. Put your confidence in God, with an eternal perspective.

Prayer

Father God, help me to outlast those who try to worry and deter me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
