Psalm 94:19
When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.
(Translation: ESV)
Explanation
According to R.G Bratcher, another phrasing translates “the many thoughts in my heart.” The Hebrew word for “thoughts” is found only here and in Psalm 139:23; here the thoughts are clearly disquieting and worrisome. There is life and refreshing found in the presence of God, especially for those who carry heavy worries.
Inspiration
Consolation literally means 'comfort'. When our hearts are running at an anxious pace, and our thoughts are many, we have someone who can console and comfort us. How might you bring your thoughts into God's view today? He is waiting to comfort you.
Application for Today
- Name the things that are troubling you. Invite God to be an ever present help and comfort in your time of need.
Prayer
Father God,I thank you that you are here with me. You see everything. May I know your peace and presence with me in my troubles. Help me to bring them into your presence, knowing that you can comfort me as I pray them through. In Jesus' name, Amen.
