Hebrews 8:10
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
(Translation: ESV)
Explanation
The covenant is a reference from the writer about the new covenant. It's understand in light of Jesus. Before, the covenant of God's promises was conditional on offerings and sacrifice in accordance to Old Testament Law. Jeremiah 31:31-33 is being cited as a proof for Jesus offering a new way.
Inspiration
Our faith in Jesus is not based on laws, or directly on behaviours - but on a living and active faith written on our hearts and minds. God's law is not a set of rules, but a rule of His kingdom that is actively a work in our lives. By the power of the Holy Spirt, we re transformed to live accordingly because of the transformation within.
Application for Today
- Where might we find the promises of God at work in our lives? How might we better align ourselves with God's desire for us. Where are we being too legalistic in our faith?
Prayer
Father God,Help me today to align my heart and mind with your new covenant. I agree to walk humbly with you, would you work within me to help me to live out your desire for my life.In Jesus' name, Amen.
