(Translation: ESV)
Explanation
When Jesus sits down, or any first century Rabbi for that matter, it signifies gravity and authority. It's the position that a Judge might take before releasing something of power.
Inspiration
Jesus is not just a good man, a kind man or an ancient thought leader. He is the one with power and authority. It's the tools of significance that draw us closer to the Father. Jesus speaks from authority and it draws us to the place of conviction and intimacy with God.
Application for Today
- Where might Jesus sit in the seat of authority in your life today? Do you see Him as critical or restorative in the power He has over you?
Prayer
Lord, where might I recognise your power at work in me? Jesus help me to know you better and to be confident in your authoritative word.
